What do I need to send you?

You’ll provide clear photos of the room, measurements or an existing floor plan, information about the pieces you want to keep, your budget, and examples that help communicate how you want the space to look and feel.

Can you work with furniture I already own?

Absolutely. It is central to the Walden House approach. I’ll help you see what you already own with fresh eyes and offer thoughtful guidance on what to keep, relocate, refresh, or replace so the finished room still feels distinctly yours.

Can you design around a specific budget?

Yes. Your questionnaire will help define a realistic investment range, and selections will be made with that budget in mind. Because you implement the plan yourself, you can purchase everything at once or complete the room over time.

What happens if an item sells out?

Product pricing and availability can change, so recommendations are most useful when purchased during the active project period. If an item becomes unavailable during that period, I’ll help identify an appropriate alternative within the support included in your service.

How do I know which service is right for me?

Norma Laughlin, founder of Walden House Design Co.

I’m Norma Laughlin, founder of Walden House Design Co. My love for creating beautiful spaces began during my years in retail. Although much of my work focused on leadership and operations, visual merchandising was always where I felt most inspired.

After leaving the demanding pace of retail and moving into nonprofit work, I finally had more time to nurture my creative side. Over the years, I found myself helping friends and family reimagine rooms, refresh well-loved furniture, prepare their homes for gatherings, and find the details needed to make their spaces feel complete. Seeing people feel happier and more at home in their surroundings turned a longtime passion into something more. It ultimately inspired me to create Walden House Design Co. and share this experience with others.

I believe the best rooms are often built over time, using pieces you already love and thoughtfully adding what’s missing. My goal is to give you a clear, approachable plan for creating a home filled with character, comfort, and beauty. A home designed to feel collected, refined, livable, and distinctly yours.
